Price stability in turbulent markets

Despite a massive increase in global memory prices – currently around 120% above last year's level – most Raspberry Pi products remain stable in price.

In particular, the 1 GB and 2 GB RAM variants remain unchanged in order to continue to reliably support industrial applications and education systems.

Only selected models with higher memory configurations – Compute Module 4 (4 GB / 8 GB), Compute Module 5, Raspberry Pi 500 (unit only) and the CM5 Development Kit – will be moderately adjusted to ensure long-term availability.

A production stoppage or a comprehensive price adjustment would have been much more drastic for many customers.

Background: Bottlenecks due to AI boom and HBM demand

For around six months, the semiconductor industry has been experiencing a persistent shortage of memory chips. The massive demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for AI systems competes directly with the production of LPDDR memory, which is also used in Raspberry Pi devices.

To ensure delivery capability, Raspberry Pi built up large inventories at the beginning of the year and was thus able to keep prices stable for many months. These reserves are now largely depleted, so a moderate adjustment is necessary to ensure long-term supply.

RELIABILITY REMAINS AT THE HEART OF THE RASPBERRY PI PRINCIPLE

Raspberry Pi emphasizes that stable and fair prices remain a central part of its corporate philosophy. The measures now taken reflect the exceptional market conditions and are expressly temporary in nature. As soon as global memory prices fall again, the adjustments will be reversed.
